The Nerazzurri’s goal is to empty the infirmary by the end of the year in order to have the full squad available to Inzaghi again. The Italian will be the first to be available again, probably on the bench against Udinese
Three weeks to end the emergency. This is the time frame that the Nerazzurri have set (one day more, one day less) to empty the infirmary, which has been overcrowded for the last month, and to reintroduce Inzaghi to the squad. The instrumental tests that De Vrij and Dumfries underwent after the problems in the game against Napoli offered a picture that was not yet definitive, but clear enough to allow some kind of timetable for their respective recoveries to be assumed. As for the other two “patients”, Bastoni and Pavard, the countdown has now begun thanks to a smooth schedule: the first has already circled December 9, when he will return to coach Inzaghi’s squad, while for the Frenchman the countdown has already begun it will take about ten days longer.
STICKS
—
The defender from Casalmaggiore has already overcome the calf injury he sustained in the Italian training camp a few days ago and is back in regular team training from today. After an almost three-week break and a differentiated program, Inzaghi’s left arm is taking care of his sporting side and, as the person concerned announced on Monday evening, will be eligible to play again for Saturday’s game against Udinese. Considering he had only had three full days of work up to that point, it’s easy to imagine him coming off the bench to perhaps come on in the final half hour and take up his starting place against Real Sociedad three days later to take again. In any case, Bastoni can finally be taken off the injured list, news that will cheer Inzaghi as he struggles with half the defense in plaster.
PAVARD
—
After Bastoni, it won’t take long to see the Frenchman again. After the braces were removed, the former Bayern player started running again. Still experiencing no effort but no pain or discomfort in the dislocated kneecap on November 5th. Given the nature of the injury and the area affected, the Nerazzurri’s medical staff preferred to proceed cautiously, but Pavard’s knee responded better than expected, so a slight acceleration in expected return times was suspected. Of course, nothing is certain yet because everything will depend on the re-athletization phase that started about a week ago. The hope is that Pavard can be available again on December 17th against Lazio Rome, or against Lecce a week later at the latest. Barring any unforeseen circumstances, we will definitely see him back in camp by the end of the year.
DE VRIJ AND DUMFRIES
—
More will be known about the two Dutchmen next week when they undergo new instrumental tests to assess the evolution of the muscle problems suffered on Sunday evening. De Vrij’s complaint about the strain on the adductor muscle of the left leg initially appeared to be more serious than that suffered by Dumfries on the flexor muscle of the left thigh, but the extent of the problem will only be better assessed in a few days. At the moment, a break of around twenty days is conceivable for both of them, which is necessary to deal with the injury and get back into shape. Both will receive a week of rest and physiotherapy sessions and then (barring unforeseen circumstances) a gradual recovery with personalized sessions. The hope is to see both back in action on December 29 against Genoa for the last official game of the year, but a realistic estimate cannot be made for a few days.
