The Upper Bavarian third division duel between FC Ingolstadt and Jahn Regensburg was really tough. The “Schanzer” led twice before the Upper Palatinate team secured a 4-2 victory with a penalty and a last-minute goal.
In the hard-fought Upper Bavarian third division duel, Jahn Regensburg ultimately prevailed against FC Ingolstadt. The Upper Palatinate beat the Schanzer 4:2. The relegated second division is in third place in the table and is therefore the best Bavarian club in the third division. Ingolstadt is eleventh.
Early lead for FC Ingolstadt
With the first real chance to score, the Schanzer (21st) took the lead through Yannick Deichmann. Regensburg immediately tried to do everything against it. First, Noah Ganaus missed the possible equalizer despite two chances in a row. Then the post saved FC Ingolstadt, a right-footed shot from Dominik Kother had too much spin to the outside. Ganaus managed to get the ball into the opponent’s goal (40′).
Tight game with a good ending for Regensburg
Even after the break it remained a close game. At first Regensburg celebrated, but Viet’s shot (47th) bounced into the goal was disallowed due to an offside position. Shortly afterwards, FC Ingolstadt took the lead again through Jannik Mause (51st). Konrad Faber tested the Ingolstadt keeper Marinus Funk and was unable to outwit him (60′). Elias Huth achieved this (70th) with a header. Substitute Julian Kügel narrowly missed his first contact with the ball (73′). Then Moritz Seiffert made a tackle in the penalty area. Elias Huth (78th) took advantage of the penalty to give Jahn the lead. Andreas Geipl made it 4-2 in stoppage time.
