BR24 Sport: Five failures: FC Bayern quintet also questionable for Arsenal

As of: April 5, 2024 12:32 p.m

FC Bayern Munich are once again plagued by injury concerns ahead of their Bundesliga away game against 1. FC Heidenheim. Among other things, Manuel Neuer and Leroy Sané are missing. Thomas Tuchel’s anxious look is also directed towards Arsenal FC.

In a laconic staccato, Thomas Tuchel listed the harsh reality. “Manuel (Neuer) is not in the squad, Leroy (Sané) is not in the squad, Kingsley (Coman) is not in the squad, Aleks Pavlovic is not in the squad and Nous Mazraoui is not in the squad.” The five very prominent names are missing from the Bundesliga duel against Heidenheim (Saturday, April 6th, live in the radio report from 3:30 p.m). But a failure in the hopeless championship race is not as serious as the risk that the players will also be responsible for that First leg of FC Bayern’s Champions League quarter-final at Arsenal London (Tuesday, April 9th, live in the radio report from 9 p.m) threaten to fail.

Tuchel struggles: injury misery “too crazy”

“They are not being spared for Tuesday, they are not in the squad because it is not possible,” explained the current coach of the second-placed team. “There is no tendency, every day and every minute counts.” What Tuchel noted in view of the renewed personnel shortage: “The opportunities to try something out tactically are extremely difficult. The injury situation is too crazy. Players who play a big role in the planning are missing all the time.” A real problem, especially for the tactically challenging Arsenal FC.

According to Tuchel, Sané is struggling with pubic bone problems. Coman, who has just recovered, is feeling the muscular aftereffects of his 30-minute comeback against BVB last Saturday. Shooting star Pavlovic is “lying completely flat with an infection” and national goalkeeper and Bayern captain Manuel Neuer is not yet ready for action again after tearing his muscle fiber in his left adductor.

Last title chance “everything is subordinated”

Tuchel was only able to clear up the question mark behind Raphael Guerreiro and the Portuguese returns to the matchday squad. “It’s always the trick not to think about the game after next,” explained Tuchel, who initially emphasized the seriousness with which the premiere on the Ostalb with newcomer Heidenheim should be approached: “We are all extremely annoyed with how the last one went Weekends. The aim should be to have enough anger in your stomach to make things right.”

In Heidenheim, FCB can expect “a classic David versus Goliath” and an opponent who “has nothing to lose”. But at least in the back of his mind, it became clear again, Tuchel has a cracker with the Gunners, his last chance for the title as Bayern coach. “We have one overarching goal over the course of the season, as unsatisfactory as it has been, and that is Wembley. We are in the quarter-finals, there are not that many steps left.” Accordingly, “everything is currently being subordinated” to the semi-finals. And that probably also includes the Bundesliga game against Heidenheim.
