“I will wait for Madrid until the last day.” That’s what Carlo Ancelotti said today and it’s clear that this statement has left the Brazilian national team in a state of obvious excitement. In Rio de Janeiro they await Carlo with open arms, convinced that he will be the next coach of the Seleção. At least that’s what Ednaldo Rodrigues, President of the CBF, thinks. He considers the negotiations with Ancelotti to have been finally concluded for a long time. And it’s not like that. Carlo has promised the Brazilians his availability, but under one condition: the non-renewal of the contract that ties him to Madrid until June 30th. And Casa Blanca are seriously considering offering the Italian coach a new contract. From January 1, 2024, Carlo is free to negotiate with a new employer. Madrid is aware of this and, faced with the pressure of Brazil, shaken by the three defeats of the national team, a negative record in the World Cup qualification, in the interim hands of Fernando Diniz, they thought about moving.

the wait

According to Radio Madrid Onda Cero, Florentino Perez has prepared an extension offer for Ancelotti, who is ready to listen to it and very inclined to accept it. This is a feeling that Carlo expressed very clearly today when introducing tomorrow’s La Liga match in Cadiz, uttering the words with which we opened the article. The question: “Would you wait until the last day for Madrid?” Answer: “Claro que si”. To the two previous questions on the subject, he replied that he did not want to talk about his future and was proud of the Seleção’s interest. “We’ll know something soon,” Carlo added. Here you are. The ball is clearly in Casa Blanca’s court and it seems that Florentino Perez intends to continue the fruitful collaboration with Ancelotti, with all due respect to Xabi Alonso, the first candidate to potentially replace the Emilian coach. We’ll see how they react in Rio de Janeiro, while Carlo remains very calm: the choice between Real Madrid and Brazil is not for everyone.
