Leaders Inter Milan are the last remaining team with a clean slate in the Italian football championship after four rounds. The Champions League-Finalist triumphed in the derby against local rivals AC Milan, who had previously won three times, 5:1 (2:0).
Inter successfully defended its lead in the table with the biggest win in a local duel between their Lombard arch-rivals in 49 years.
Two points behind Inter, record champions Juventus Turin also moved up past Milan to second place with a 3-1 (2-0) win against Lazio Rome. Defending champions SSC Napoli can also overtake the humiliated “Rossoneri” on Saturday evening if they win at FC Genoa 1893 and push them out of the leading trio.
Henrikh Mkhitaryan stands out
Three former Bundesliga professionals left their mark on the Milan derby at Inter. Former Dortmund player Henrich Mchitarjan stood out with two goals (5th/69th). Also the ex-Gladbacher Marcus Thuram (38th) as well as the former Hamburg and Leverkusen player Hakan Calhanoglu (79th, penalty kick), who moved from AC to Inter Milan two years ago, was on the top scorer list, as was Davide Frattesi (90th + 3).
For the “guests”, in which national player Malick Thiaw was part of the starting line-up, Rafael Leao (57th) was only able to shorten the score temporarily.
SSC Napoli only drew in Genoa
Champion SSC Napoli had to be content with a 2:2 (0:1) draw at CFC Genoa. After an hour of play, Napoli were already on the losing end, trailing 0-2. Raspadori (76th) and Politano (84th) secured a point with their goals in the final half. Naples remains fourth in the table.
