Romania-Kosovo suspended for discriminatory chants and banners against Kosovars

The Romanian ultras do not recognize the independence of the opposing country: in the 18th minute the referee interrupted the game, which then resumed after almost an hour

The game between Romania and Kosovo was interrupted in the 18th minute. The French referee Delajod actually decided to abandon the game due to the discriminatory chants of the Romanian ultras in the National Arena in Bucharest.

The home fans shouted slogans such as: “Kosovo is Serbia” (a phrase that can also be seen on a banner) and repeated “Serbia, Serbia, Serbia” several times to emphasize that Kosovo’s independence is not recognized. The players returned to the locker rooms and play resumed after almost an hour’s break.
