ANDhe Barcelona get their first bad news of the season just as the ball starts rolling on the track. One of the key players in his squad, Ferrao, has suffered a partial rupture of his Achilles tendon after an unfortunate mistake in training. The Brazilian has to go under the knife again after picking up the same injury he suffered four seasons ago.
The 11-year-old Blaugrana has suffered a myriad of injuries since landing in Spain that have prevented him from shining in the park. Barcelona are recovering from a complicated and enduring defeat. It is estimated that the footballer will be out for about six monthsarriving as a luxury reinforcement at the end of the season if all goes according to plan.
Official statement from FC Barcelona
After pinching his foot during just one random game in training on Thursday, medical tests have confirmed Ferrao has suffered a partial tear in the Achilles tendon in his left ankle. The player is due to undergo an operation in the next few days and after the operation, the club will announce the estimated time of the withdrawal.
Ferrao had previously torn the same Achilles tendon in his left ankle in a game against Osasuna Magna on November 26, 2019. The club then estimated he would be out for five to six months following the operation due to illness, although the strike due to the pandemic meant it only reappeared at the start of the 2020/21 season.
